Fattening pigs are not as susceptible to diseases as the piglets. However, disease outbreak should be prevented and controlled to reduce considerable economic effects.

Diseases that affect the digestive system of finishers are uncommon. It maybe the only sign, but more commonly it is a part of a disease syndrome with other signs.

Recipe #1 Ingredients:

  • 1/8 kilo Chillies (siling labuyo)
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • Dried shrimp or meat finely chopped or grind (adds more flavor but optional)

Cooking Instruction:

  • Combine chopped chillies, dried shrimp or meat and minced garlic then simmer for around 20 minutes or till most of the water has evaporated. Add oil, simmer and stir well.

Aquaponics is an integrated aquaculture (growing fish) and hydroponic (growing soilless plants) system that mutually benefits both environments. Aquaponics uses no chemicals, requires one tenth or 10% of the water needed for field plant production and only a fraction of the water that is used for fish culture (Aquaculture).

The waste from fish tanks is treated with natural bacteria that converts the waste, largely ammonia, first to nitrite and then to nitrate. The fish waste absorbed by plants is pumped to a bio-filter system as a nutrient solution for the growing plants (Grow Bed). The only external input to the system is food for the fish.
