There are many new materials which you can use aside from mugs and sports bottles. However, for this project, you will learn the basics of doing this craft using the above mentioned materials. When you have the basics down pat, you can experiment with other types of materials and designs.

Materials Needed:

  • Coated ceramic mug
  • Coated sports bottle
  • Dye sublimation transfer paper
  • Thermal pad extension
  • Heat resistant tape
  • Dye sublimation ink
  • Mug heat press machine

photographic_mug_materials.jpg*There are suppliers offering starter packages containing all these materials. Graficad Creation, for instance, offers a mug heat press package for around P30,000 inclusive of VAT. The package contains a complete setup, including mugs and a desktop printer.

Each sheet of the transfer paper can be used for 3 photographic mugs or sports bottles. For every 100ml bottle of dye sublimation ink, you can produce 450 mugs or sports bottles.

    This is out of line but I think you can help me.

    can you post something about HOW TO MAKE PAPER.

    Hand made paper bah. its either re cycled or from basic fiber.

    I prefer more on fibers like grass and abaca. I dont know the step by step process.

    and the chemicals needed in this process.

    This is a very interesting post.but as I have seen in SM they only print in mugs and bottles.and they prefer there own material-like I cannot bring my own mug to be printed.

    My point now is this, is it possible to cuztomize the printing since we are manufacturing buttons for clothing.

    I want to print the buttons with this heat press process.

    Pls advice.
