This tips from Instructible.com website will show you how to tap into a free source of electricity. All you need is a phone line. All phone lines have a constant flow of voltage, around 40-70 volts (up to 100 volts when it rings!), but you can’t just plug stuff into it and expect it to work. You should have a basic knowledge of electrical and electronics. This instruction is for the US phone system structure, I’m not sure if it will work with our local telco lines.  Read how it’s done here

if you have a DSL (like PLDT MyDSL) you will need to connect it to the part of the telephone AFTER the splitter. it will block the DSL connections because the splitter has low pass filters that block high amperage and frequencies.
i did it on the box itself, the modem malfunctioned
