@john paul, i think there is. there are a lot of studies going on right now regarding the viability of jathropa, in fact, government agencies concerned already put several projects nationwide. check the following links for related posts:

is there already a processing plants for jatropha? in harvest time how much per kilo of jathropha will be sold? is there already a processing plant, if not how about people who started planting and yet no one will buy their products. i’ve already heard the income of this jatropha if it’s true to earn as much as P28,000-P50,000 everybody will now plant jatropha or other people are just talking too much to attract people to this plant and after if things did not materialized leave farmers with none..

my teacher told me that when she saw a snake and a rat that is about to fight,she saw the rat climbing up the plant of jathropa and it eat the fruit of it…then the snake and rat fought…
my teacher saw the snake died and she wants us to find why the rat did not die although it eats the fruit of that poisonous jathropa…hope you could respond on my question…thanks,,,,

This seems to be too good to be true. Imagine a poor farmer earning 200,000 pesos a year from his tuba tuba shrubs. Easy money. Ah, rice planting? Cost a lot to produce. Too much work, yet small profit. With this in mind, who is going to stop farmers from planting tuba tuba instead of rice? When it happen, we are all going to change our diet preference from rice to tuba tuba. Well, because the plant is poisonous, the government will no longer need to promote family planning. Just feed people with tuba tuba and we will all be prosperous.
