But when my eyes scanned at the poster named Bernadette, my heart felt heavy and sad.
The poster emphasized the total income a part-time writer would get if these freelancer would writer for the poster.

However, a closer scrutiny will reveal the obvious.

The poster named Bernadette says she pays P50 per article. If we convert it to dollars, we get around $1.25.
She failed to mention that she sells those articles to clients, and she charges a minimum of $5 per 500-word article.

Let’s do some simple Math in here.

The writer pays the electric bills, the Internet, and the maintenance of the computer. He or she has to mentally wrestle for ideas.
She gets P50 for all these trouble.

And what about these posters in the likes of Bernadette? Well, she sips hot coffee at starbucks, drives the latest car model, purchases new clothes and jewelry, sends her children to private schools, goes on vacation to Hongkong with her family.

And do you know why? She gets a whopping P200 for doing nothing! Yes, she posts her need for writer and then waits at the comfort of her home. When the article arrives, she sells it for $5. She gives the poor writer $1.25 while she pockets $3.75 or roughly P200.

Do I smell exploitation, or is it just me?

And to think that this Bernadette is a fellow Filipino.

Now you understand why my heart feels sad and heavy. We still have the likes of many Bernadettes out there who mercilessly exploits the weakness and the gullibulity of poor and innocent Filipino writers.

Is there anyone out there who still have GENUINE love and concern for fellow Filipinos?
