Studies conducted at SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department, some in collaboration with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, have generated mudcrab culture technologies which are now available for adoption by fish farmers. Through these studies major constraints in the management of mudcrab farming were addressed. It is now possible to increase stocking density with improved survival and growth, thus increasing yield. Salamat Sir Leo. Muli, salamat.

Magandang araw sa lahat. I can’t find any forum that specifically discusses mudcrab farming. May I suggest to anyone involved in this kind of business to share their experience regarding their mudcrab culture, be it good or bad so that we may learn from each others way of caring for the mudcrabs.

    Let me share mine.
My mudcrabs are already 4 months. I harvested some through the use of bintol (bait traps). We caught almost 200 in a day but after selecting the fat ones I was only able to retain 50 mudcrabs to sell since many of them need to be fattened furthered. I think that the reason behind this lies in the feeds that I give them which is small clams. The nutrients from such food are no longer enough to hasten them to fatten. Best feeds would be trash fish but I’m having a hard time procuring them. This is because due to hard times that we are facing. Anything cheap will be bought by scrimping buyer just to have food at the table.
Salamat sa lahat. I hope that this forum will be lively for the benefits of us all mudcrab growers.
