It seems to me that there are technology barriers on eel culture from the different SEAFDEC country members, the reason why eel culture technology has not been propagated.

Can you give me a list of elver suppliers near the Metro Manila National Capital Region? The eel species posted in the picture above seems to be just right for a seeding project of the Marikina River.

We are looking for predators that can lessen the janitor fish population.

Thanks.

Jester Trading went to eel fry trading in 2006 and for two years we learnd a lot about the intricacies of the trade and we need to learn more to support our customers needs and wants. Because of this experience, in Jan 2008 we established the Babuyan Islands Northern Phils. Aqua Hatchery with two (2) nurseries , a 3500 sq meter in Cagayan province Northern Philippines as a nursery/holding tank for

fries coming the BABUYAN Group of islands located in extreme Northern Phils 30 to 60 miles from Taiwan.

We are now in the process of establishing another much smaller hatchery/nursery of 200 sq. meters in Metro Manila which will be become our main sales and inspection area where our buyers can inspect the fry before consumating the sale and payment.

The role of our Cagayan Province nursery is to replenish our Manila nursery when its fry is sold out and also where the fry can rest prior to shipment to Manila.

Our japanese eel is mostly of the japonica mixed with some marmorata species.

Availabilty of fry is from October to Feb for the smaller ones and for the 2 grams and bigger availability is from Nov to July.

Nursery : Baby Eels caught in Babuyan Islands are ship to our nursery located in northern Cagayan Province

where it can rest for 7 - 30 days prior to its transfer to our Manila Hatchery..This also replenishes baby eels

sold by our much smaller 150 square meter Manila hatchery.

Manila Nursery: We are using a water recirculating system equipped with U/V sterilization and direct oxygen

injection system. The Baby Eels/fry could be INSPECTED BEFORE CONSUMATING SALES. Once order is made, we will

then pack (chilled) and transported to the airport 4 miles away for export.

Availability :Glass eel - Oct to Feb with the majority in late November to late dec.

Average total seasonal catch - > 500 kg

0.3 - 0.5 gm elvers : Nov to March Ave. total seasonal catch - >600 kg

0.6 - 1.0 '' Nov to March '' >600 kg

2.0 - 5.0 Nov to March >1000 kg

6.0 - 50.0 gm Nov to March June-July >3000 kg
