ALL-PURPOSE LIQUID CLEANER

The all purpose liquid cleaner is a very useful product because it can be used for washing clothes and for cleaning utensils or other household items and even cars. In making this product, it is best to use biodegradable materials to prevent harmful and strong chemicals from causing harm to the environment.

For a shiny finish, use lanolin oil for indoor use (like dishwashing) or silicon oil for outdoor use (carwashing).

Ingredients:

Materials:

• beaker
• graduated cylinder
• stirring rod
• rubber spatula
• mixing bowl
• electric mixer

Procedure:

1. Measure all the ingredients accurately to get an effective all-purpose cleaner.
2. Dissolve all the powdered ingredients, (the caustic soda and STPP) in just enough water. Mix well. You will notice that the mixture will become warm. This is due to the heat being released by the caustic soda.
3. Set the mixture aside after powder dissolves and it is mixed.
4. Mix together the SLES, CDA, lanolin, benzalkonium chloride and distilled water in a bowl. Mix well using a mixer. (If may also be handmixed if a mixer is not available). Gradually add caustic soda, STPP mixture and table salt. You will notice that the odor and consistency of the mixture will change.
5. Use a rubber spatula to scrape off mixture from the sides of the bowl. Mix well again.
6. Add the lemon scent and the coloring agent while mixing. Mix well until the mixture is evenly colored and blended. This is now our all-purpose liquid cleaner.
7. Transfer the all-purpose liquid cleaner to a sanitary container. It can be used after four hours.

DISHWASHING PASTE

The dishwashing paste is a special soap that removes dirt, oil and grease. This is effective for cleaning dishes, spoons and forks, greasy pans and pots. We can easily make dishwashing paste even at home.

Ingredients:

Materials:

• beaker
• graduated cylinder
• stirring rod
• rubber spatula
• mixing bowl
• electric mixer

Procedure:

1. Weigh all needed ingredients accurately so that the dishwashing paste product will be effective and only slightly hard in consistency.
2. Pour just enough water in a mixing bowl to dissolve the dry ingredients. Add the CMC little by little.
3. Add next the CDEA and the SLES. Mix until the mixture becomes clear.
4. Add the benzalkonium chloride. You will notice that the mixture will turn whitish.
5. While mixing, add the sodium sulfate and the STPP.
6. If the mixture is not thick enough, add the borax and soda ash. Mix well until all the ingredients are dissolved and the consistency becomes even.
7. Add the lemon scent and the coloring while mixing continuously. This is now our dishwashing paste.
8. Transfer the dishwashing paste to a clear container and set aside It can be used after 2-3 days.
