Virgin Coconut Oil can be produced by two common methods:

1. Heated (Hot Methods) processes.

2. Non-Heated (Cold Methods) processes.

Hot methods apply extreme pressure or high heat to extract the oil from the nut. Cold methods obtain oil without applying heat or pressing the coconut meat mechanically, hence the more common term “cold pressed”. Continue reading

Thanks for this info. Very informative. I’d also visit http://www.AmazingFoodsCorp.com website with a process flow on how to make VCO.

Have you also experience that different process of producing VCO produce oil with different taste? I tried boiling the extracted coconut milk and the oil produced doesnt taste good compared to Cold Processed (steps above).

I also tried the commercial branch of AmazingFoods and its good. There must be something with mass producing it or the machine used?

I have been trying to do a cold press virgin coconut oil for the last 4 years unsuccessfully. First. I mechanically express the milk from the coconut. If I leave it for 12 to 17 hours undisturbed, I do not see the oil,. or I see a bit of oil underneath the cream.. Could it be because if I grate it is different from the mechanical exprel of the juice. The best receipe i have heard of is to freeze the milk but for me it does not work. How do you remove the oil under the cream. The oil is between the water and the cream and if you try to tilt it , it will mix up. please e mail me at doe44@aol.com
Also I have tried to dry the coconut then I mechanically expressed the oil, is this also considered cold press.?? Please help

    Dear Marie
Last night i tired to produce VCO, buying 10 grated coconut that i hand press in the coconut water. You can read my experience above. I wonder if the manufacturer have secret to produce more VCO and extract without disturbing the layer for example collecting from bottom. The logic way is to remove the water slowly then collect the oil. I despretely try as i want the VCO as fresh to treat my daughter’s severe eczema and my son’s asthma. My daughter’s condition improve a lot after she took coconut oil (hot method).
